Drunk quad rider gave chase

A quad bike driver tried to make off after a collision with a car in the Graz city area on Thursday afternoon, but overturned sideways while fleeing at excessive speed. He came to rest under the quad bike and suffered serious injuries.

The 59-year-old driver initially crashed into the rear of a 29-year-old car driver at the Kärntner Straße/Ulmgasse junction at around 5pm. Without disclosing his details, the older of the two men made off. However, the younger one followed him and called the police. Before they arrived, he managed to stop the quad bike driver. An argument broke out and the two vehicles collided again. The 29-year-old also suffered minor injuries to his hand.

Escape continued
As with the first collision, the 59-year-old did not want to stop but continued his escape. Once again, the 29-year-old did not let up and followed him. The escape only ended at the Abstallerstraße/Heubergergasse intersection when the quad bike tipped over during a maneuver, probably due to the high speed. The vehicle came to rest on its side and the driver fell underneath it.

A police patrol rescued the obviously very drunk man from his predicament. The ambulance finally took him to hospital. The result of the blood test is still pending.
