To be seen live with EP
Musician Anda Morts sings for more life in life
With a flair for authentic lyrics and a simple mix of indie and post-punk, Anda Morts from Linz is currently conquering the domestic music market. With his second EP "Montage", he is also going on a major tour of Austria in April.
Timing is everything, as they say in life. When it comes to timing, Anda Morts is currently doing everything right. The Linz-based musician has been an integral part of the local scene for a good year now, is on permanent rotation on FM4 and is inspiring an increasing number of people with his new wave-infused, deliberately simple post-punk rock, who can identify very well with the true-to-life lyrics taken from reality. The 26-year-old released his second EP "Montage" just in time for the first really hot weekend of the still young year and it really whets the appetite for summer. This is not least due to the single of the same name, with which he has permanently played his way into the ear canals of his growing number of fans.
Freedom with responsibility
With lines such as "I only need 20 degrees and sun, no cheap flights and no sea", he not only promotes the pleasant feeling of laissez-faire comfort, but also sends a striking message that great happiness can often be found in small things that are not necessarily harmful to the environment. The cheerful guitars oscillate between surf rock and late 70s punk, while Anda Morts propagates the joys of youthful freedom with his deliberately lethargic singing voice. "I prefer to drink outside, because drinking inside sucks / you can't smoke in the bars, I admit I miss it". The fact that the microphone is often overdriven and the pop melody provides a special form of informality is deliberate.
Anda Morts tried to learn how to make music at school and then preferred to trust his gut feeling. He is taking advantage of the current wind of change and has put his nursing profession on the back burner for the time being. Performances in Austria and Germany are now commonplace for the shy-looking high-flyer, who has an immense talent for putting the insecurities of a twenty-something into words without bursting out in blind rage or blaming the world for an age-related form of disorientation. His songs are located somewhere between the Ramones, the Libertines or early Nirvana and are more direct than many of his generation colleagues. Anda Morts gave up the protection of the English language for his thoughts and feelings after just one song, which is why his songs in German seem much more direct and authentic today.
Nihilistic sounds
In "Eltern", for example, he deals with conflicts in a conciliatory way and looks for the reason for a lack of understanding in an upbringing that has shaped several generations. "Nix dagegen" and "Deine Nummer" address the difficulties in relationships and close friendships and "Schweinerock" is a homage to complete light-heartedness based on the Harald Juhnke principle "No dates and easy to sit down." The almost nihilistic sound of the carefree songs encourages you to sit together in the park, when the warm canned beer and the cold pizza don't bother you at all, because in good company you simply enjoy life and don't think about tomorrow. Where other artists almost obsessively try to find escapism in the harsh reality of everyday life, Anda Mort's "Montage" conveys it in passing. Coolness finally has an Austrian soundtrack.
Live several times in Austria
Anda Morts will present his EP "Montage" on April 16 at ppc in Graz, on April 17 at Bäckerei in Innsbruck, on April 18 in Kirchdorf an der Krems and then on April 26 at his biggest Austrian show to date at Flex in Vienna. There will also be a reunion at the last of the Lido Sounds in Linz. You can find all the dates and tickets for the top musical talent's concerts at www.phatpenguin.at.
