Crash and vertebral fractures
Habsburg “very grateful to be able to stand here”
Ferdinand Habsburg suffered two fractured vertebrae in a crash while testing his Alpine racing team for the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC). "My past week was obviously very uncomfortable and difficult. But I am very grateful to be able to stand here," said the 26-year-old in a video message on Instagram on Friday about his accident a few days ago in Aragon, Spain.
Habsburg is currently wearing a metal brace around his upper body.
Start in Imola shaky
"My recovery is just getting started and my goal is to be back in a race car as soon as possible," emphasized the ORF expert. It is unclear whether Habsburg will be fit to race again at the second round of the WEC in Imola on April 21.
Seventh place at the season opener
At the season opener in Qatar a month ago, Habsburg and his two French team-mates Charles Milesi and Paul-Loup Chatin finished seventh in the hypercar class, the highest category.
