Baby happiness at Easter! Former ÖSV ace is a dad for the first time
Probably the best present for Easter: former ÖSV ski racer Roland Leitinger and his wife Simone have become parents for the first time.
In an Instagram story, Simone shows how the new dad carries the little one out of hospital in a Maxicosi. "Welcome home," she wrote and also revealed the name and date of birth of their son. Lorenz was born on Easter Sunday (March 31, 2024).
Just a few weeks ago, Leitinger hung up her skis after twelve years in the World Cup. "I felt it was time to say thank you and goodbye to the sport as a racer," he wrote on Instagram in mid-December. "But I will carry you in my heart forever."
Giant slalom runner-up in the 2017 World Championships
The 32-year-old Tyrolean's career was characterized by many ups and downs. He tore his cruciate ligament twice and his back was always causing problems. He finished on the podium twice in 72 World Cup races. Leitinger celebrated his greatest success at the 2017 World Ski Championships in St. Moritz, where he was runner-up in the giant slalom. He is now enjoying family happiness with his wife Simone and son Lorenz.
