Accident with chainsaw: Styrian (25) seriously injured

A serious forestry accident occurred on Wednesday afternoon at Niederalpl in the municipality of Neuberg an der Mürz (Bruck-Mürzzuschlag district).

According to the Red Cross, a serious forestry accident occurred shortly after 2 p.m. on Wednesday in the course of clearing the fallen trees that blocked the L113 in the Niederalpl-Passhöhe area after the storm on the Easter weekend. A 25-year-old skilled forestry worker from the district of Bruck-Mürzzuschlag suffered a several centimeter long and deep cut to his abdomen with a chainsaw for unknown reasons. Other people present immediately set the rescue chain in motion and provided first aid in an exemplary manner.

After initial emergency medical treatment by the crew of the Christophorus 17 emergency helicopter and the crew of a Mariazellerland Red Cross ambulance, the injured man was flown to the Hochsteiermark Regional Hospital in Leoben.

The Mariazellerland Red Cross was deployed with an ambulance, the Christophorus 17 emergency helicopter and the police.
