New package of measures
Working conditions for bus drivers to be improved
With a new five-point plan, the state of Salzburg, the transport association and the vida trade union want to make everyday working life easier for future bus drivers in the state.
With a package of measures that includes five key points, future bus drivers in the province are to receive better working conditions.
The following points have been agreed between the state, the Salzburg Transport Association and the vida trade union for future tenders:
- Five-day week for bus drivers
- An end to shared services
- Improved social and sanitary facilities
- Making the profession more attractive through accompanying measures
- Assumption of costs for driving licenses for new trainees
Package of measures as a criterion for tenders
A key component of this is the abandonment of the planned introduction of a six-day week and the end of split shifts. In addition, the transport association says it is in constant contact with transport companies and bus drivers in order to make the profession and working conditions more attractive.
In future, the new measures will become a fixed criterion in all new tenders for bus routes. Around 1800 bus drivers are currently employed throughout the province.
Deputy Governor Stefan Schnöll (ÖVP), Johannes Gfrerer, Managing Director of the Salzburg Transport Association, and the regional chairman of the vida trade union, Friedrich Schinagl, expressed their satisfaction with the result achieved.
