Nine-hour search
Boy (5) found unharmed in Switzerland
Like so many others, a family with two children took advantage of Easter Sunday to go for a walk in Saxon Switzerland. But their young son and his balance bike suddenly disappeared. His parents were only able to reunite with the runaway after a nine-hour search.
The boy was found slightly hypothermic and with minor injuries around 500 meters from the spot in the forest where he had disappeared.
Drones and a helicopter in action
Police officers, rangers and mountain rescue teams spent hours searching for the 5-year-old in the rough, rocky terrain. Drones and a helicopter were also deployed.
It was not until shortly after 10 p.m. that his parents received the relieving news that their son had been found safe and sound.
Search dog found child
"The child is alive. One of the dogs found the boy in the forest, slightly hypothermic and with scratches. "We're all glad that things ended happily," said a spokesperson for the Dresden police department. What the boy had been doing during the nine hours remains his secret.
