Quad bike crashed: Men thrown out of vehicle
Fatal accident in the municipality of Westendorf in the Tyrolean district of Kitzbühel on Saturday! An amphibious vehicle skidded while crossing a ski slope. The driver (62) and co-driver (23) were thrown out of the vehicle in the subsequent rollover.
The accident occurred at around 7.20 am. The 62-year-old wanted to cross the blue slope no. 117 in a north-westerly direction with the amphibious vehicle at an altitude of 1500 meters in order to get to a mountain inn. Caterpillar tracks were also fitted to the vehicle. "During the crossing, the vehicle skidded and overturned several times," said the police.
Helicopter also deployed
Both the 62-year-old and his 23-year-old co-driver were thrown out of the amphibious vehicle. The vehicle only came to a standstill after around 150 meters. The driver and co-driver skidded down to the valley station at an altitude of around 1275 meters. Both sustained serious injuries in the accident. The 62-year-old was airlifted to Innsbruck Hospital, the 23-year-old was taken to St. Johann Hospital by the ambulance service.
