Snow tractors block short-stay parking zone

At Schlingermarkt in Floridsdorf, private snow clearing vehicles are causing trouble for drivers. Because they are blocking parking spaces. 

Bright sunshine, spring temperatures of up to 20 degrees. There is no sign of winter anywhere in sight. But drivers around the popular Schlingermarkt in the 21st district are still annoyed. Because snow clearing vehicles are still blocking urgently needed parking spaces. Former district councillor Hans Jörg Schimanek comments: "The excuse of the snow clearing companies that there could be a sudden cold snap with snowfall is embarrassing." The office of district head Georg Papai (SPÖ) reports that a total of 280 snow clearing and gritting vehicles were available throughout Vienna during the winter season.

These were trucks, equipment carriers and tractors, some of which were deliberately parked on public roads with the appropriate authorization to enable rapid deployment. "It's like a fire extinguisher: when I don't need it, it's just standing around in the way, but when I need it, I'm happy if I can use it quickly in this way."
