They've been close friends for years and both have great sporting careers behind them! Felix Neureuther and Bastian Schweinsteiger already knew each other as children, but then decided to play different sports, in which they both went on to become world champions.

"Happy 40th my friend!", Schweinsteiger congratulated his friend via Instagram on Tuesday and posted a few photos showing him and the former slalom star over the years. "Stay the way you are and hopefully there will be a little race again - you know who wins," the German soccer world champion continued.

Two world careers
Background: Schweinsteiger and Neureuther have known each other since childhood. They even used to ski against each other back then. Schweinsteiger is apparently still proud that he was once faster than his friend Felix. At the age of 13, however, "Schweini" opted for soccer and went on to enjoy a global career in the national team, with Bayern and at Manchester United. Neureuther, meanwhile, remained loyal to the snow, winning World Championship gold in Bormio and World Championship silver in Schladming with the German team, as well as winning the slalom in Kitzbühel twice.
