Drugged driver without a license speeds away from police

On Saturday evening, police officers from Vorarlberg carried out driver and vehicle checks as part of a traffic enforcement operation. At 5.41 pm, a 35-year-old driver was to be stopped in Frastanz. However, he sped away from the police, drove onto the highway as a wrong-way driver, turned around and finally rammed five vehicles before he could be arrested. After the arrest, it turned out that the man did not have a driver's license and was driving under the influence of drugs.

This evening did not go according to plan, even for hardened police officers. One driver resisted an attempt to stop him by stepping on the gas and speeding away from the officers. The man tried to outrun a police patrol pursuing him by speeding and performing a number of extremely dangerous overtaking maneuvers.

Driver drove onto the highway as a wrong-way driver
In the Nenzing area, the driver threw something out of the vehicle. He then drove onto the A14 as a wrong-way driver and endangered uninvolved road users.

Police vehicles rammed
The driver was eventually pursued by four police vehicles and was finally able to slow down. He then tried to evade being stopped by ramming the police vehicles several times. This led to a traffic accident between the five cars, as a result of which the driver was finally stopped at 5.52 pm. 

Rapid drug test was positive
The man was eventually arrested without resistance. It turned out that the driver did not have a valid driving license. A rapid drug test was positive. The driver's car and three of the police vehicles involved were severely damaged in the accident.
