After a drop in temperature: sunshine in Holy Week

A cold front is currently moving across Styria. Although low temperatures and rain have Palm Sunday firmly in their grip, Monday already promises improvement. A bright Holy Week and a sunny Easter can be expected, says the meteorologist.

Dark clouds moved over Styria on Saturday afternoon. They brought rain and a drop in temperature with them. A cold front that will also have Sunday firmly in its grip. "These are cold air masses from the north that are very susceptible to showers," explains Ubimet meteorologist Andreas Demel. "These polar air masses ensure significantly lower temperatures at high and low altitudes."

A cheerful Holy Week is just around the corner
But relief is coming soon - spring is set to return on Monday. Air masses from the south will reach us again and the Föhn wind will also be noticeable. "Temperatures will rise again, there will be more sunshine and less wind," says Demel. While it will be around ten degrees across Styria on Sunday, it will be up to 15 degrees on Monday, for example in Graz.

From Wednesday, we can expect temperatures of around 18 degrees, heralding extremely friendly Easter weather. "According to calculations, temperatures of over 20 degrees are even possible over the Easter weekend," says Demel. Can Styria expect any snow at all this spring? "The probability is gradually decreasing - a white Easter is at least out of the question," says the expert.
