ÖFB team: Rapid player makes his debut in the starting eleven

Team boss Ralf Rangnick has confirmed ahead of the European Championship test match against Slovakia on Saturday (6pm/live on sportkrone.at ticker) that Rapid's Leopold Querfeld will make his debut in the starting line-up. 

Rangnick will have to rely on a new center-back duo, as Philipp Lienhart is also out at short notice due to knee problems alongside long-term injured captain David Alaba.

"He has earned it"
Kevin Danso seems to be set. Leopold Querfeld will also make his international debut, as Rangnick confirmed on Friday evening. "He will play from the start. He's earned it thanks to his performances at Rapid. And he's also done well this week at the training camp." There is also the possibility of substituting another young central defender, Salzburg's Flavius Daniliuc, during the game.

"It's possible that one or the other will get the chance to play from the start," said Rangnick. "But we're already playing with most of the regular squad we have at the moment."
