Carinthian duo attack in the land of the gods
Ibrahim Androw (19) moved from Liga club Donau to the 3rd Greek league in the winter - where he plays with a former colleague at FC Kastoria. .
Ibrahim Androw will be missing when the Carinthian League wakes up from hibernation on Friday. The 19-year-old made ten appearances for second-placed Donau in the fall. Which was enough for a transfer to Greece!
Since January, the player from Klagenfurt has been playing for FC Kastoria in the Gamma Ethniki, the 3rd Greek league. "The contact came about through my management. I didn't have to think twice," says Androw, who has a Carinthian teammate in St. Veit's Nikolaos Kokkas (19). "He has Greek roots and speaks their language. That makes it easier," explains Androw.
He already played together with Kokkas, who has Greek citizenship, in the Austria Klagenfurt academy. And this is already his second year in the land of the gods. In January 2023, he signed for second-division club Karditsa, where he got off to a bad start. "Because the pass came too late, I could only train with the pros, I played in the U19s."
No professional life
In Kastoria, a town of 35,874 inhabitants, there is no talk of professionalism - both Carinthians are amateurs there. "But the club looks after us well. Each of us has an apartment and food is delivered to us twice a day," grins Kokkas. Things are not going well in sporting terms, they are 14th in the table, in a relegation place, nine points behind the relegation zone. Both players' contracts expire on June 30. "Then I want a professional contract, no matter where," hopes Androw.
