The squad of the Graz ice hockey team continues to grow. An old acquaintance returns to the 99ers' forward line in 2024/25. Something is also finally happening in defense.

Lukas Kainz already played for the Graz99ers from 2018 to 2022, and now the 28-year-old is returning to the Mur from the Vienna Capitals. The club confirmed to the "Krone" that the forward has signed for two years.

"A dream player of mine, versatile," said sporting director Philipp Pinter. "He is an excellent skater who also wants to establish himself in the national team." In his four seasons in Graz, Kainz played a total of 175 games, scoring 25 goals and 30 assists.

Kernberger stays
In defense, the 99ers were able to confirm a contract extension: Michael Kernberger will stay for one year with an option for another. "He's a great character who brings the physical component we want," said Pinter about the Carinthian, who has been playing in Graz since 2021.

This means that two defenders and seven attackers (see list above) have already been confirmed for the coming season, in which the Graz99ers finally want to play up front again.
