Thai boxing legend knows opponent for first boxing match

Fadi Merza's opponent is now known. After ten years, the multiple Thai boxing world champion is back in the ring. For the first time as a boxer. The 46-year-old will face Bosnian Kenan Catic. Who is not only 20 years younger, but also forces Fadi into a different weight class.

"He's almost half my age," laughs Fadi Merza. Kenan Catic is 26 years old and therefore 20 years younger than Merza himself. The two will now clash at the Bounce Fight Night on April 6 at the Hotel Intercontinental, where Fadi will take on the new challenge of boxing as a multiple Thai boxing world champion. "I actually wanted to compete in the weight class up to 72.5 kilograms, but there was no opponent, so now I have to compete in a higher class," explains Fadi. And adds: "But that also means that I might have a bit more strength."

Merza's training is already geared towards his opponent in the black trousers in the video: "He's beefy, smaller than me. I will need a good guard. I'm really looking forward to the fight!"
