Haring faces the end of the season
Scotland legionnaire has to go under the knife
Peter Haring will have to undergo surgery after all due to persistent knee problems. In addition, his contract with Heart of Midlothian expires in May. What's next for the 30-year-old? Does his future lie in Scotland?
Now things are getting tough for Peter Haring. After the red and gold Scotland legionnaire had been unable to play a game for his club Heart of Midlothian since January 2 due to injury, the bad news followed. An operation is unavoidable to get the knee problems under control!
"That's very bitter, of course. I will have an operation in around a week," Haring told the Krone. "Unfortunately, conservative measures were not successful, we tried everything." The long-suffering "six-man" - who has already missed over 100 games since 2018/19 (the "Krone" reported) - is therefore also facing the end of the season. "I want to be fully fit and ready to play again by the summer. It's going to be very tight for this season, it looks like."
Due to various injuries, the fan favorite and former captain (almost logically) lost his regular place. "I have to concentrate on a full recovery first," said the Siegendorf native.
"No talks yet"
What happens after that is still up in the air. As is well known, his contract with Hearts expires at the end of May. By then, the 30-year-old will perhaps be fully "restored". But the mere 509 minutes played - in all competitions combined - are not a plus for Haring in the contract poker. This raises the big question of whether the club will even extend his contract for another year?
I'll just let it come to me, there's not much I can do about it. I like it here, but I'm also not averse to a new experience.
Peter Haring über seine sportliche Zukunft.
The traditional club has at least not approached him yet. "There have been no talks so far. But, as I said, my focus is on my health." On the other hand, does his future still lie in Scotland? "I'll just let it come to me, there's very little I can do about it. I like it here, but I'm not averse to a new experience either."
