The great shining light is missing!
The European Championship finals in Germany this summer are drawing ever closer and winter is on the home straight. At the end, the ski finals in Saalbach will be a great opportunity to drum up support.
From Saturday, the red-white-red team will say goodbye to the fans, with Vincent Kriechmayr & Co. returning to Saalbach in just under eleven months' time to tackle the World Championship adventure. The major event in 2025 is set to go down in skiing history ...
- Because the first competition with a floodlight show will take place immediately after the opening on February 4.
- Because all races will take place on the Zwölferkogel with the finish in Hinterglemm. Tight organization, perfect for the fans.
- Because Saalbach aims to be the first World Cup to be sold out every day.
However, there are big question marks over the Austrian team. After a botched 22/23 season, Manuel Feller finally won a small crystal globe again, and there are theoretically three more chances at the final. There is no question that an upward trend can be seen this winter.
However, the spectacular upward outliers are in short supply, the former flagship ski nation lacks the big leader. And there probably won't be one at the World Championships either. Because not even the best coaches in the world can conjure a shining star out of a hat within a few months.
