Two rounds of the Freeride World Tour in Fieberbrunn provided even more excitement and snow action on Thursday. With spectacular falls and sensational runs, the skiers and snowboarders offered the spectators plenty of variety.

The Wildseeloder didn't exactly make it easy for the freeriders on Thursday. The men and women on skis and snowboards had to contend with the different snow conditions in the various sections of the mountain slope. On the first run in the morning, some sections were very hard, while on the second run at lunchtime, some landings in the soft snow were impossible.

In the men's ski race, the Canadian Marcus Goguen (19), who was leading at half-time, and the Frenchman Oscar Mandin (26) had particularly spectacular crashes, both of whom fell in after a double backflip - but fortunately remained unharmed. Japan's Tenra Katsuno crossed the finish line with a look of disbelief: "I lost my helmet on the first jump!" The 23-year-old continued, but his run was not counted due to missing equipment.

Local hero back
Tyrolean Valentin Rainer also showed two great runs, but despite a backflip over a high cliff, he was unable to fully convince the judges and ultimately had to settle for eighth place.

"According to the judges, the runs were equally good. I would have said the second one was better," said the 25-year-old from Mils near Imst, disappointed. Victory went to New Zealander Ben Richards.
