Fleet-wide problem?
“Seat movements” to blame for Boeing descent
During the investigation into the sudden descent of a Boeing Dreamliner, investigators are focusing on the pilot's seat and seat movements, according to a report. The possibility of an electrical short circuit is also being investigated.
"A movement of the seat caused the aircraft to tilt downwards," reported the trade magazine "Air Current" on Wednesday, citing a senior airline safety official.
Fleet-wide problem suspected
An inspection report stated that the Airbus rival would inform the operators of the 787 about the incident. This could indicate that it was a fleet-wide problem.
Boeing declined to comment on the report when asked by Reuters, referring instead to the investigating authorities.
At least 50 people were injured on Monday when a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner operated by Latam Airlines suddenly nose-dived on a flight from Sydney to Auckland, New Zealand.
