Canceled due to bad weather: Palmen auf Almen

The planning was in full swing, but the weather finally put a spanner in the works for "Palmen auf den Almen". The event has been canceled without replacement.

The "Palmen auf den Almen" event has already had to be postponed once this year. Now the replacement date also has to make way for the predicted strong winds on the mountains.

The idea sounds crazy, but it's actually sustainable! The palm trees, which were to serve as decoration at the "Palmen auf den Almen" music festival in Sportgastein at the weekend, are helping to make the event a so-called "green event". Only events that pay attention to special requirements are allowed to identify themselves as such. "We have repeatedly received criticism in recent years. Palm trees in the snow initially raise concerns for many people," explains organizer Markus Papai from Gastein Bergbahnen.

Papai took the criticism seriously. This year, he therefore only wanted to use plants for the greenery that were already in stock in the surrounding nurseries. 

Papai also wanted to focus on environmentally friendly concepts for catering and transporting guests to the location. A shuttle bus was to run to the location at regular intervals. The caterers were to use reusable crockery and regional and sustainable food. 

The organizers expected around 4000 visitors per day at the weekend.
