New regulation: buses will have priority here in future

The new week brings a new priority regulation at an important junction in the Drau city. This should improve the flow of bus traffic in future. New traffic signs have also been installed.

Buses in the city of Villach will be given more priority over private vehicles. For this reason, the priority rule at the Burgenlandstraße/Auer-von-Welsbach-Straße junction was "reversed" on Monday. Whereas drivers on Burgenlandstraße previously had priority at the junction, Auer-von-Welsbach-Straße has now been given priority in order to speed up bus traffic. This means that drivers on Burgenlandstraße must stop at the junction.

Corresponding road markings and signs were already changed on Monday. Digital information boards were used by the city to draw attention to the traffic routing.

No complaints so far
However, the new regulations have not caused any major problems for drivers during a local inspection by the "Krone". And no complaints have been registered with the city council so far either, according to an inquiry.

On closer inspection, the new traffic signs in the area of Aurelia Petschnig Park (Grünes Eck Perau) immediately catch the eye. The poles are made of wood. "The bamboo material has a better CO2 footprint compared to conventional metal poles and signs. The new bamboo signs also fit in with the sustainability concept and the Perau Green Corner," says the municipal authority.

The new priority regulation also brings advantages for cyclists who are on the cycle paths there.
