“Hungry Eyes” singer Eric Carmen dead at 74
The song "Hungry Eyes" became a cult hit thanks to "Dirty Dancing". Now singer Eric Carmen has died at the age of 74.
"It is with great sadness that we share the heartbreaking news of Eric Carmen's passing," confirmed wife Amy on Eric Carmen's website. "Our sweet, loving and talented Eric passed away in his sleep over the weekend."
Carmen's music as a "lasting legacy"
Carmen's wife, who had been married to the former Rasperries frontman since 2016, continued in her tribute: "It gave him great joy that his music touched so many for decades and that it will be his lasting legacy."
She ended her message with a quote from Carme's hit "Love Is All That Matters": "Love Is All That Matters ... Faithful and Forever."
Numerous hits written
Eric Carmen became a star as frontman of the band Rasperries and with the song "Go All The Way" in the early 1970s. The band's hits also included songs such as "Let's Pretend" and "I Wanna Be With You". Five years after its formation, the band broke up and Carmen went solo.
He created numerous hits with songs such as "All By Myself", "It Hurts Too Much" and "The Way We Used to Be".
The song "Hungry Eyes" eventually made it into the dance film "Dirty Dancing" with Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey and became a real cult hit.
