Voting cards for run-off elections can be applied for
In 14 municipalities, the candidates for the mayor's seat have to go to a run-off election. Election cards can be applied for from Monday at your home municipality.
In those municipalities where no mayoral candidate received an absolute majority (over 50 percent) on Sunday, the two strongest candidates will have to go through to the run-off election. This will take place on March 24. Voting cards can already be applied for at your own municipality. This can be done online at www.wahlkartenantrag.at, by e-mail to the respective municipality or in person at the municipal office. The last opportunity to do so is on Thursday, March 21, during office hours.
"Candidates in the city of Salzburg, where SPÖ Deputy Mayor Bernhard Auinger and Kay-Michael Dankl from KPÖ Plus have made it to the final, and in the municipalities of Neumarkt am Wallersee, Schleedorf and Strobl (all Flachgau), Bad Vigaun, Oberalm and Puch (Tennengau), Bad Gastein, Bad Hofgastein, Forstau, Mühlbach and St. Johann im Pongau as well as in Neukirchen am Großvenediger and Saalfelden im Pinzgau. In five of these municipalities, a woman can still become mayor.
