Poker for Bayern talent: Rangnick remains persistent

ÖFB team boss Ralf Rangnick is intensively courting exceptional talent Paul Wanner. However, the 18-year-old will continue to play for the German U20 team for the time being. Nonetheless, Rangnick remains keen on Wanner.

The 18-year-old Bayern Munich talent, who is currently on loan to Elversberg, is eligible to play for both Germany and his native Austria. According to Sky reporter Florian Plettenberg, Rangnick recently considered inviting Wanner for the international matches against Slovakia and Turkey in March. However, the talented player is said to have decided to play for the DFB's U20 team for the time being. 

Giving up? Not a chance! Rangnick remains persistent. The ÖFB team boss and his coaching staff will be keeping a close eye on the development of the midfielder, who has scored four goals and provided three assists in 19 games for Elversberg in the second German Bundesliga.

Rangnick will announce his squad for the international matches against Slovakia (March 23) and Turkey (March 26) on Monday (6 p.m.) in Vienna.
