Two deaths in Upper Austria
Shock and grief in Feldkirchen after tragedies
A black weekend for the municipality of Feldkirchen an der Donau (Upper Austria): Two local residents lost their lives in tragic accidents. In Linz, a 34-year-old man fell to his death, just hours earlier an 82-year-old woman lost her life in an accident at work.
Feldkirchen an der Donau is in mourning: after a night of partying in Linz, a citizen of the municipality in the Urfahr-Umgebung district fell three meters over a railing to his death. The 34-year-old is said to have been partying in a pub in Passage and left the building via a side exit at around three o'clock.
Lost his balance
Witnesses observed how the man then danced riskily around a railing, lost his balance and fell headfirst into the depths. The 34-year-old suffered extremely serious head injuries on impact, passers-by immediately rushed to his aid and set the rescue chain in motion. However, even the emergency doctor was unable to save him and he died a short time later in the accident hospital (UKH).
"Wanted to start a family"
Mayor David Allerstorfer is saddened: "I knew him well, he was a friend of mine - a very friendly, helpful guy who lived life to the full." The deceased lived with his partner in Feldkirchen. The couple were reportedly planning to get married soon. It is unclear who the 34-year-old was with in Linz.
His girlfriend was at home and is said to have been informed of the accident by telephone by an acquaintance. When she arrived at the UKH, however, it was already too late. "The deceased had a close circle of friends who often met up. We are mourning the loss of a dear animal lover and my sympathies go out to the family," said Allerstorfer.
I knew him well, he was a friend of mine. A very friendly guy. He only lost his father last year.

Accident on a farm
Almost twelve hours before the accident in Linz, the sirens had already been wailing in Feldkirchen. The fire department, ambulance and emergency doctor rushed to a farm in the district of Lacken. As reported, a 52-year-old farmer and his Hoftrac had overturned there. The vehicle buried his 82-year-old mother underneath it. The elderly farmer's wife was flown to hospital by helicopter, but she also succumbed to her serious injuries.
