Rapid against Klagenfurt

Klauß after the draw: “We were nervous and inhibited”

Rapid Vienna secured a place in the Champions Group with a draw against Austria Klagenfurt. However, coach Robert Klauß was not satisfied after the 1-1 draw. But the focus must now be on the future. 

Peter Pacult (Klagenfurt coach): "Hats off to my team. I'm delighted to have made it into the championship group for the third time in a row given the limited opportunities we have here. We actually controlled the game against Rapid at all times and should have been one or two goals ahead before the break. Our defending was poor at 0:1. Nevertheless, we stayed calm and deserved to equalize. The ball shuffling in the last few minutes was bizarre, but somehow logical."

Robert Klauß (Rapid coach): "We're very happy that we managed it. It wasn't easy because we used a lot of youngsters. We were nervous, inhibited and lost the thread after the first good ten minutes. We had Hedl to thank for that. After going 1-0 up at a favorable time for us, things went better after the break, but we still had to tremble after the equalizer. It was minimalist from us today, but what counts is the championship group. The aim now is to get as many points as possible in the championship group and get to the cup final."
