Missed exit
Skier (66) injured after jumping off chairlift
Serious accident in the Tyrolean Zillertal! A 66-year-old skier failed to get off the chairlift at a mountain station on Saturday morning. The German skier jumped from a height of around one and a half meters and was seriously injured.
The holidaymaker wanted to enjoy the beautiful weather and make a few turns on his skis in the Spieljoch ski area in Fügenberg at around 11.40 am on Saturday. But the German skier missed the exit at the top station of the Onkeljoch 3-seater chairlift.
Flown to hospital
A lift employee noticed the faux pas immediately. "He stopped the lift immediately and made an announcement for the skier to remain seated on the chair until the opposite exit point," according to the police. However, the 66-year-old did not follow the instructions and jumped off the chair. The German was seriously injured. "He was flown by Akia and Skidoo to the gondola station and from there by emergency helicopter to the district hospital in Schwaz," said the police.
