City, state and chamber want to take over trade fairs
At the end of October, the main tenant of the Salzburg Exhibition Center, "RX Salzburg GmbH" (formerly Reed Messen), announced its intention to sell its Austrian business. The city, province and Salzburg Chamber of Commerce now want to step in and take over the trade fair organizer, including its 30 employees.
A corresponding offer has already been made and a successful contract is expected to be concluded in the coming weeks.
The city, state and Chamber of Commerce are keeping quiet about exactly how much money was offered for the purchase. According to Governor Wilfried Haslauer, the parties have agreed to maintain confidentiality until the sale is completed. There is speculation about a sum of around 10 million euros.
The 30 employees of "RX Salzburg GmbH" no longer have to speculate. They have the certainty of being taken on. Their new employer will now be Messezentrum Salzburg, which currently employs 42 people.
The takeover of "RX" by the state, city and Chamber of Commerce will secure and continue the "Bauen+Wohnen", "Hohe Jagd" and "Alles für den Gast" trade fairs, among others.
