Arsenal FC narrowly avoided a major setback in the Premier League title race on Saturday. Thanks to a goal from Kai Havertz in the 86th minute, the Londoners won 2-1 at home against Brentford and temporarily jumped to the top of the table.

Declan Rice had put Arsenal ahead in the 19th minute. Brentford's Yoane Wissa equalized after a bad mistake by Aaron Ramsdale. Havertz redeemed the top club in the closing stages.

The Gunners have thus extended their Premier League run to eight wins in a row. Arsenal took the lead in the three-way battle for the championship, at least for one day, before Liverpool FC and Manchester City meet on Sunday.
