What the Carinthian is missing
Martin Hinteregger criticizes former club Frankfurt
In an interview with "Sport Bild", Martin Hinteregger commented on his former employer, Eintracht Frankfurt, with the former Austria team player also explaining what he currently lacks at the "Eagles".
On the one hand, Hinteregger lacks a stable axis in the squad. "Two years ago, that was people like Kevin Trapp, Evan Ndicka, Sebastian Rode, Djibril Sow, Filip Kostic or me. It didn't matter whether someone on the left or right was missing. And on the other hand, I don't think everyone in the team has adopted the Eintracht DNA yet"
"You have to be grateful"
Eintracht is a special club where you have to become one with the fans, feel their energy and absorb it. "You can be grateful that you can play for a club that has grown like this, with fans who sell the shirt off their backs for tickets week after week. That needs to flow more into the game for some people," criticized the 31-year-old.
However, the team no longer has it as easy as it did back then, according to Hinteregger. "Under Adi Hütter, we were 13th in the table, played badly - and people didn't see it as bad as they do now." Frankfurt are currently in sixth place in the Bundesliga table and would therefore have a Conference League ticket in the bag. Hinteregger wore the Eintracht jersey from 2019 to 2022 and won the Europa League in his last year in Frankfurt under Oliver Glasner.
