In the krone.tv interview with Jürgen Winterleitner, ÖBB press spokesman Bernhard Rieder talks about the light and shade of the current operating situation and the company's plans for the future. Rieder emphasizes the reliability and safety of the railroad as a means of transport, but also acknowledges the challenges posed by the increase in passenger numbers due to the climate ticket and the new parking rules in Vienna.

Bernhard Rieder begins the interview on a very fundamental note: "The climate ticket is a major step towards simple and inexpensive mobility. It is a step towards climate neutrality and the energy transition."

Massive investment in the future
Despite certain difficulties, Rieder sees a positive future for ÖBB, supported by massive investments in new trains and infrastructure: "We are waiting for trains. Delivery will begin in the next few months and continue over the next few years." The ÖBB spokesperson also announced that significantly more connections will be offered at Easter. And Rieder emphasized that a total of 330 new trains will be added to the ÖBB fleet by 2030 at a cost of 6.1 billion euros.

"If things don't run smoothly, we're really sorry."
ÖBB's outlook remains optimistic, underpinned by planned improvements and a commitment to sustainable mobility: "Our 40,000 employees want to get rail customers to their workplace safely and on time." Rieder also signals ÖBB's commitment to regaining the trust of rail customers.
