Almost nobody finds white fibers in chicken fillets visually appealing. But hardly anyone knows that it can be a symptom of a disease that occurs in factory farming. And there are even more warning signs - Krone+ tells you when you should avoid buying meat in the supermarket.

There are meat scandals in Austria and Europe time and time again. For some time now, one supermarket discounter in particular has been in the firing line of animal rights organizations because it sources chicken meat from farms in several European countries with particularly cruel husbandry conditions. In this country, three Styrian broiler chicken farms were reported by the Association Against Animal Factories (VGT) in 2022, and the AMA had announced inspections. However, this does not change the basic husbandry conditions.
