Underwater engagement with Bongiovi almost went wrong

'Stranger Things' actress Millie Bobby Brown and Jake Bongiovi are considered a dream couple. But the marriage proposal was anything but perfect, as the actress sank the ring in the sea and her fiancé pulled off a cinematic rescue. 

The young couple's engagement almost fell through! Millie Bobby Brown has been engaged to her boyfriend Jake Bongiovi - the son of music legend Jon Bongiovi - since June 2023.

Millie Bobby Brown revealed how the proposal went down for the first time on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon".

Engagement almost falls through
The couple have a shared passion for diving. That's why Jake planned to propose to Millie underwater. He hid the ring in a shell. Sounds very romantic, but unfortunately he didn't take a few things into account.

Jake could only ask Millie with gestures, as it is not possible to speak underwater. The actress was overjoyed to accept the proposal with an "OK" in diver's language.

Jake Bongiovi naturally wanted to put the engagement ring on Millie's ring finger straight away - but then came the shock moment: the glittering piece of jewelry slipped off the actress' finger and threatened to sink into the depths!

Bongiovi heroically dived after the ring
To save the ring from disappearing into the sea, Millie's fiancé Jake immediately dived after the piece of jewelry. It was "just like in the movies". But that could have had dire consequences for Jake Bongiovi. If he had dived too quickly, the rapidly increasing water pressure could have damaged Jake's inner ear and head.

But Millie Bobby Brown was able to breathe a sigh of relief: luckily everything went well and Jake was still able to catch the ring. And: even if the engagement ring had been lost forever as a result of the fail, it wouldn't have been a problem for the actress. Because she still wants to marry Jake - with or without the ring.

On the red carpet with her in-laws
The likeable actress also seems to get on brilliantly with her parents-in-law. At the premiere of the film "Damsel" in New York City, the 20-year-old even walked the red carpet with Jon Bon Jovi and Dorothea Hurley. Brown shone in a metallic floor-length gown with a generous leg slit, while her fiancé wore a black suit with a tie and brown sunglasses.

Jon Bon Jovi has raved about his son's "wonderful" fiancée in the past. He is not worried that the two might be too young for marriage. "I think all my kids have found the people they can grow with and we all like them," he revealed in a radio interview.
