Fire in Tyrolean high-rise building: cause now clear
On Friday evening, 24 residents had to be evacuated to safety from a residential building in Völs in the Tyrolean district of Innsbruck-Land. As reported by the "Krone" newspaper, a fire broke out on the fifth floor. The cause of the fire has now been determined.

When the Floriani firefighters arrived, the flames were already shooting out of the window and threatening to spread to the apartment above. Wearing breathing apparatus, the firefighters forced their way into the apartment and battled the flames. Three residents had to be taken to Hall Hospital afterwards, the others escaped with shock.
Technical defect as the cause
Over the weekend, experts carried out investigations to find out the reason for the outbreak of fire. It is now clear how the fire started. "As things stand at present, it can be assumed that the cause was a technical fault in the bedroom area," they say.
The apartment was a total loss.
