Truck driver ignored rest period, manipulated device

The Greek driver (47) of a truck not only completely ignored the driving and rest periods. The man who was caught by Tyrolean officers on the Brenner highway also tampered with the device. The driver is facing charges. And he had to pay a fine.

According to the police, the incident took place on Saturday. On that day, officers were carrying out heavy traffic checks on the Brenner highway. "At around 1.40 pm, they checked the Greek driver of an articulated truck in a parking lot near Steinach am Brenner." An analysis of the driver's card and the vehicle revealed several "inconsistencies".

During questioning, the driver fully confessed.

Four-figure fine paid, charges to follow
"Finally, it emerged that the 47-year-old was using a second driver card to display the driving and rest times in accordance with the law." The officers discovered that "several very serious administrative violations" had been committed. During questioning, the Greek driver fully confessed. The driver had to pay a security deposit in the mid four-digit euro range. He is also facing criminal charges.
