Cyclists collide on the Mur cycle path

A cyclist on the Mur cycle path in Graz was unable to stop in time on Sunday. He crashed into another cyclist, who suffered serious injuries and had to be taken to hospital. 

Two 49-year-olds were riding their racing bikes on the Mur Cycle Path near the Augarten in Graz on Sunday. At the same time, a 23-year-old was riding his bike down a downhill ramp that leads into the Murradweg. According to the police, he probably did not pay attention to the road sign indicating that he should give way or even disregarded it. As a result, he collided with one of the two racing cyclists. The person who caused the accident suffered minor injuries and the other party suffered serious injuries and had to be hospitalized. The 23-year-old told the police that he had seen the two cyclists in the traffic mirror, but had not managed to stop his bike in time.
