Success story continues: Strametz in the semifinals!
The red-white-red success story continues at the World Indoor Athletics Championships in Glasgow! Karin Strametz finished fourth in the 60 m hurdles second preliminary heat in 8.04 seconds and reached the semi-finals on Sunday evening at 8.40 pm (CEST). She finished 15th out of all the preliminary heats.
"My start was good, unfortunately the middle section wasn't perfect, but I was strong again at the back," commented the Styrian on her race. In the semi-finals, she now has the chance to improve her personal best of 8.03 and perhaps even break Beate Schrott's Austrian record (7.96).
Three top 10 places
There have already been three top ten finishes for the ÖLV in Glasgow. Verena Mayr finished fifth in the pentathlon with 4466 points, Susanne Gogl-Walli was sixth in the 400 m and set a new Austrian record even on the unfavorable track 1. And Markus Fuchs finished tenth in the 60 m in a personal best time of 6.58 seconds, missing the final by two hundredths. Leni Lindner was the only one of the five Austrian athletes to be eliminated in the 60 m preliminaries.
