Car driver (16) seriously injured cyclist

A 16-year-old car driver (L17 training drive) overlooked a cyclist at the Steyrergasse-Münzgrabenstraße intersection in Graz on Saturday afternoon. There was a collision - the 59-year-old was seriously injured.

At around 12.10 p.m., the 16-year-old from the district of Voitsberg was riding west on Steyrergasse accompanied by her mother as part of an L17 training ride. At the junction with Münzgrabenstraße, she wanted to turn left into Münzgrabenstraße. At the same time, a 59-year-old woman from Graz was riding her bicycle in the opposite direction on Steyrergasse and wanted to cross the intersection straight ahead. The 16-year-old entered the intersection at walking speed and gave way to an oncoming truck. When she then wanted to continue the turning maneuver, she probably overlooked the oncoming cyclist. There was a collision in which the 59-year-old was knocked to the ground and seriously injured. The cyclist was taken to Graz Regional Hospital by the ambulance service.
