In the playoffs
These are the quarter-final opponents of KAC and VSV!
KAC and VSV now know their opponents for the ice hockey quarter-finals.
The quarterfinals are set! 0:1 behind, 2:1 in front, 2:3 behind, after Frycklund's 3:3 in minute 43 it went into overtime, in which Pustertal prevailed against Olimpija Ljubljana in game three of the "pre-play-off" thanks to a super goal by ex-VSV crack Schofield in minute 75 - and won the series 2:1. The South Tyroleans were the last team to qualify for the play-off.
KAC was the first team allowed to pick
In the subsequent "pick", KAC was then allowed to be the first team to choose as the winner of the basic round - and took Vorarlberg. "The players, coaches and I made that decision," explained boss Oli Pilloni live on Puls 24. Captain Tom Hundertpfund: "We've beaten Vorarlberg three times this year, losing once in a penalty thriller. They have really strong legionnaires, we have to shut them down. Their power play is also dangerous. In addition, our former colleague David Madlener is in goal, who often has a stellar day against us. But we certainly have more quality across four lines."
Only one club left for Bolzano
Fehervar then took Pustertal, Salzburg snapped up Linz - leaving VSV for Bolzano. Villach captain Alex Rauchenwald: "A very unpleasant opponent, Bolzano often plays really hard. You always have to stand your ground against Bolzano, you can't hide. Otherwise you've already lost." The season duels ended 2:2 this year.
