Mistaken bottle: Worker drank engine cleaner

Reaching for the wrong bottle had dire consequences for a Polish worker (55). In the Brenner base tunnel, the man accidentally drank a sip of engine cleaner concentrate. The ambulance took him to hospital.

The incident happened shortly after 10 a.m. on Wednesday. The 55-year-old wanted to take a sip from his drinking bottle in the Brenner base tunnel. "He accidentally picked up a bottle of engine cleaner concentrate and took a sip from it," said the investigators.

After the worker had rinsed with plenty of water, he was taken to the tunnel exit.
