FC Bayern has been severely punished for the misconduct of its fans in the Champions League. UEFA announced on Thursday that Munich will not be allowed to hand out tickets to their supporters for the next away match in Europe's premier soccer league.

The continental association also imposed a fine of 50,750 euros on the German record champions. Bayern fans had set off pyrotechnics and thrown objects during the first leg of the round of 16 tie at Lazio Roma.

The UEFA Disciplinary Committee therefore enforced a penalty that had been suspended after the group stage. In October, Bayern supporters had also set off fireworks and thrown objects during the away match against Danish club FC Copenhagen (2:1).

"We have to progress first"
Bayern coach Thomas Tuchel did not want to make any major comments on Friday. "We have to progress first," he said succinctly after the recent 1-0 draw against the Italians. The second leg against Lazio will take place next Tuesday at the Allianz Arena.
