Fire department had to break down apartment door in Hard

Firefighters were called to an apartment fire in Hard (Vorarlberg) on Wednesday. Because the resident did not respond, the door had to be forced open. The Florianis then brought the situation under control.

On Wednesday shortly before midnight (11.14 pm), a fire alarm system was triggered in a residential building in Harden. As a result, four emergency vehicles from the local fire department were deployed. No one responded to the knocking of the firefighters in the affected apartment, so they were forced to break down the door. 

Cigarettes disposed of
The fire had broken out in the kitchen: Residual waste disposed of in a bucket had started to smoke, apparently cigarette butts had been discarded there. The floor around it and a chest of drawers were already charred. Fortunately, thanks to the rapid intervention of the emergency services, the fire did not actually break out. The occupant was first treated by paramedics and then taken to Bregenz Hospital due to suspected smoke inhalation.
