Drunk driver rams into police car: officers injured
A drunk driver from America rammed into a police patrol car in the Gleinalm Tunnel on the Styrian Pyhrnautobahn (A9) on Tuesday evening. The two officers were injured, the Styrian Provincial Police Directorate announced on Wednesday.
The American had hit the civilian police car in the Gleinalm tunnel in the direction of Graz at around 6.30 pm. A breathalyzer test on the 33-year-old American was positive and he will be charged. The two police officers went to the doctor on their own.
The badly damaged vehicles were towed out of the tunnel by a towing company. The S. Michael and Übelbach-Markt volunteer fire departments cleared the accident site of debris. The tunnel was blocked for all traffic in the direction of Graz from 6.30 pm to 7.40 pm.
