Crashed head-on into oncoming traffic while overtaking
An unsuccessful overtaking maneuver ended in hospital for two men (70, 53). In the dark and on a wet road, a 70-year-old German man overtook in Neukirchen/Enknach in Upper Austria, overlooking oncoming traffic.
The 70-year-old German was driving his van on the B156 from Neukirchen/Enknach towards Braunau on Friday morning. In the Mitternberg area, he wanted to overtake a truck in front of him, which was being driven by a Croatian (59).
Crashed into oncoming traffic
During the overtaking maneuver, a 53-year-old man from Schwand/Innkreis came towards him in his car. The truck driver tried to swerve to the right, but the 70-year-old crashed into both the truck and the oncoming traffic.
Fire department had to free the driver
The 53-year-old driver was trapped in his vehicle in the collision and had to be freed by the fire department. He and the German (70) were taken to hospital with injuries of indeterminate severity.
