Villach carnival director passes away suddenly

Volker Grohskopf has accompanied the Villach carnival sessions for many years. The ORF director died in Vienna at the age of 58.

The German-born director dedicated his life to productions such as "Licht ins Dunkel", various operas, but above all to the Villach carnival. Grohskopf had already begun work on the upcoming "70 Years of Villach Carnival" anniversary.

We do not know the exact circumstances of the director's death. However, he is said to have died unexpectedly of a heart attack, according to guild circles.

Bruno Arendt from the Federation of Austrian Carnival Guilds also deeply regrets the death: "Unfortunately, it's true!" Grohskopf was awarded the NÄRRity Order just a few weeks ago.
