Fire department insulted
Bystander goes berserk after traffic accident
A scandal broke out during an accident in Wiener Neustadt (Lower Austria): a bystander insulted the firefighters because the rescue operation was taking too long. Comrades explain the procedure.
It was a fender bender like many that the fire department in Wiener Neustadt is called out to almost every day. And yet the operation on Friday was completely different. The reason was a bystander. He made it clear to the firefighters, who were carrying out safety work, that he would have long since cleared the road with his vehicle. "You important people" was one of the nicer terms the man found for the comrades.
"Safety of the emergency services"
"We were completely baffled," say the volunteers and feel compelled to explain their approach. "An accident scene carries the risk of secondary accidents, even with fender benders, liquids leak out and the scene must at least be secured professionally. After all, it's also about the safety of the emergency services," says commander Christian Pfeiffer, who emphasizes: "We take complaints seriously, but it's incomprehensible to insult us like this!"
