Trouble in Innsbruck

Man with a gun caused an operation in Rapoldipark

As if Shrove Tuesday wasn't already turbulent enough, an initially unknown gun enthusiast also caused a stir and a police operation in Innsbruck.

At around 3.28 pm, a report was made that a man was wildly handling a firearm in Rapoldipark in Innsbruck. Several police patrols were immediately sent to the scene.

The man was subsequently identified and provisionally arrested. It turned out that the weapon was a blank firing weapon. No one was injured or specifically endangered in the incident.

Expulsion order imposed
The officers issued a temporary weapons ban and ordered the man to leave the Rapoldipark protection zone. The man, a 29-year-old Austrian, will be charged with disorderly conduct at large.
