NY: Dead and injured after shots fired in subway

Shots were fired in a subway station in the Bronx borough of New York at around 4.30 p.m. local time on Monday. A 35-year-old man was killed. Five other people were injured. 

A fight between two groups of young people is said to have broken out in the subway beforehand. In the end, one person pulled out a gun and fired, fatally wounding the 35-year-old man.

A police spokeswoman said that it was still unclear what condition the five injured people were in. No arrests have been made.

Shootings in the New York subway are rare. In 2022, a man with a gun injured ten people traveling on a train through Brooklyn. This was the first gun attack in the subway system with multiple injuries since 1984.
