Humorous encounter
Chancellor Scholz met his doppelganger in the USA
They really do look like each other: Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz met the Senator from Delaware, Chris Coons, who seems to be the spitting image of him, in Washington. The two politicians took the encounter with humor.
During a brief visit to the USA, the German politician met Coons at a dinner with members of the US Congress on Thursday. A souvenir photo was a must - because the American almost looks like the SPD politician's twin.
US senator asks on X: "Who's who?"
"Great to see my doppelganger again", Scholz commented on a photo of the two men taking a selfie. Coons also posted a photo with Scholz. "Who's who?" he asked his followers on the X platform in German.
The two are indeed difficult to tell apart: They both have a similar haircut, and their clothing style and laugh lines are also similar. This is not the first time the two have met: the resemblance was already noticeable at the World Economic Forum in Davos last year. A photo was also taken then.
The reason for Scholz's visit was the request for more military aid for Ukraine. On Friday afternoon, a meeting with US President Joe Biden at the White House was on the agenda.
